The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is now offering school presentations for students in Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas Counties. These 30-minute presentations include an introduction, game, video presentation, mini-lesson of your choice, and petting of an animal (if available, animal visits are not guaranteed.) We will also bring activity books and stickers for each student in the class. Maximum class size: 25 students.
Lesson choices include:
- The Pet Suitcase: This hands-on lesson teaches children the responsibility of caring for a dog or cat, and children will learn how to be good pet parents. They will unpack a real pet's suitcase, identifying the importance of each item to the pet's welfare. This program aligns with the Body of Knowledge: Life Science Science Standard and is available for grades 2-5
- Humane Society 101: This lesson discusses the reasons animal shelters exist and the role the Humane Society of Tampa Bay plays in the community. Students will also learn how they can help homeless animals through an informative lesson that teaches an overview of animal sheltering. This program aligns with the Social Studies Civics and Government Standards and is available for both grades 2-5 and grades 6-12.
